BPOM: Distribution Becomes Crucial Aspect in National Vaccination

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta Head of the Indonesian Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM), Penny K. Lukito, says that one of the most crucial aspects of the national COVID-19 vaccination program is its distribution process.

Penny reminds that vaccines must be maintained inside consistent storage under certain temperatures to prevent a drop in quality.

“The distribution process is crucial as the Sinovac vaccine must be maintained between 2-8 degrees Celsius while Pfizer vaccine must be stored at 7-degree Celsius,” said the BPOM leader on Thursday’s virtual press conference, Nov. 19.

In order to meet those requirements, the BPOM will closely monitor the chain of distribution from its production to its final destinations in rural areas. This aspect, says Penny, needs to be made clear to the future logistical teams.

“We don’t want the hard work in producing the vaccines to be distributed under flawed conditions,” he remarked.
