Anies Baswedan to Draft Policies in Anticipation of Post-peak Pandemic

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said he was planning to prepare regulations to deal with the period after the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Discussions regarding technical issues will be held with related institutions.

“We want to be prepared for the post-peak pandemic,” said Anies in a virtual discussion today, November 24, 2020.

The statement was conveyed to the Finance Ministry’s Special Staff for fiscal policy and macroeconomic Masyita Crystallin and the deputy head of International Relations of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), who were speakers of the event.

Anies said he was interested in the speakers’ explanations about the economy and businesses during the pandemic. He argued that the city administration would be better to prepare necessary regulations, while the action could be carried out when the time comes.

“We do not know yet when it (the pandemic) will peak, but I think we need to draft a set of policies from now on,” Anies Baswedan said.

Jakarta is still grappling with the COVID-19 pandemic. New positive cases keep rising every day. An epidemiologist from Griffith University, Dicky Budiman, opined that the first wave of the pandemic in Indonesia has not been over yet.
