Angkasa Pura II to Maximize Slot Management Ahead of New Normal

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta State-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II announced on Monday that it is trying to solve issues that might emerge in airport terminals amidst the transitional large-scale social restriction (PSBB) and new normal. One of the strategies is closely related to slot times.

Angkasa Pura II president director Muhammad Awaluddin said that the company is maximizing its slot time in order to evenly spread flight schedules and prevent congesting a single slot time.

“Communication will be maintained with air carriers to prevent carriers requesting flights in certain time frames [but to evenly spread it] and provide alternative flight schedules for users,” said Awaluddin in his statement on Monday.

Apart from slot time, he revealed that Angkasa Pura II must tackle the issue related to flight routes and flight frequencies within a single route, as airports and air carriers must collectively reactivate flight routes and gradually increase the frequency of certain flights as it would help the industry rebound.

“The national aviation sector has the capacity to have a major contribution toward Indonesia’s economy and activity,” said the Angkasa Pura II president.
