160,000 Police-TNI Joint Officers Deployed to Secure Upcoming Long Holiday

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The National Police Chief of Public Information Bureau, Brig. Gen. Awi Setiyono said a total of 160,916 joint personnel would be deployed to secure the long holiday and collective leave days from October 28 to November 1, 2020.

Awi outlined that the personnel include 94,170 policemen, 24,448 military personnel, and 42,298 personnel from related elements.

“Besides, we have prepared 645 posts on priority routes, such as toll roads, rest areas, main streets, tourist sites, and alternative roads,” said Awi on Wednesday, October 21.

He estimated that the peak of the homecoming would begin on October 27-28, while the return flow was expected to occur on October 31-November 1, 2020.

The Traffic Police Corps had also prepared several anticipatory measures, such as implementing contraflow traffic on Jakarta-Cikampek toll road and restricting large trucks from passing the toll road.

“And managing the operational hours of rest areas, adding officers of card readers at toll gates, and managing ship crossings,” Awi added.

The commemoration of the birthday of Prophet Muhammad or Maulid Nabi on October 28 and the national collective leave day on October 30 are overseen in the collective decision of the Religious Affairs Minister, the Manpower Minister, and the Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform.
