100 Years of Late Ruler Soeharto Commemorated in East Jakarta

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta –  At-Tin mosque in East Jakarta on Tuesday hosted the 100 years commemoration event of the late president Soeharto with the children and relatives of the president who ruled the country for 31 years before stepping down following intense public pressure. 

Based on Tempo’s observation, Bambang Trihatmojo and Siti Hediati Heriyadi, who’s known as Titiek Soeharto were present at the event. Both of them were first to welcome the visitors. 

Before the event officially started, the former husband of Titiek Soeharto and current Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto, was seen present in the mosque. Prabowo maintained a low profile during the event and simply greeted both Trihatmojo and Titiek Soeharto before moving back into his seat. 

Other public figures attended the event were Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan and People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Speaker Bambang Soesatyo.

In general, the organizers claimed there were 750 invitees in the event that was held under proper health protocols. People invited to the event were also required to take antigen swab tests.

According to the event organizers, the 100 years commemoration is hoped to be used as a momentum to spark the spirit and achieve the exemplary of Soeharto who was born on June 8, 1921, throughout his life.
