Vandalism in Darussalam Mushola is uncivilized, careless act: MUI

Jakarta – Secretary General of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Anwar Abbas condemned the vandalism committed at the Darussalam Mushola, Pasar Kemis, Tangerang, Banten Province, on Tuesday (Sept 30), calling it an uncivilized act.

” The MUI deeply regrets this uncivilized and irresponsible act,” Abbas mentioned on Wednesday.

Abbas advised law enforcement authorities to immediately process the case and do something about it versus the wrongdoers in accordance with the existing laws and policies.

The MUI secretary basic stressed that the occurrence of vandalism at Darussalam Mushola need to not be neglected given that it could potentially trigger discontent and commotion. For this reason, police officials must be firm in processing the case, he noted.

If reasonable and firm examination is not conducted into the case, it can, in fact, activate a sense of ire among the people and areas of society. Naturally, this ought to not happen, he affirmed.

The Darussalam Mushola, located at the Villa Tangerang Elok housing complex, was reportedly vandalized.

The perpetrators painted graffiti on the walls that read “Anti-Islam”, “Saya Kafir” (I am infidel), and “Anti-Khilafah”, to name a few, and also eliminated prayer mats and doodled on the Holy Book Quran.

On the night of the same day, the criminals were detained by the police.
