Jakarta – No link has been discovered as yet between the suspected terrorists from the Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) group detained in East Java and the group apprehended in Makassar, stated police.
” Until now, there has been no connection in between East Java and Makassar,” said head of the general public information bureau of the National Police’s public relations division, Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono, at an interview at the Cops Head Office here on Wednesday.
The JAD network in East Java was cut off from the JAD network running in Makassar, South Sulawesi, he informed.
The Unique Detachment (Densus) 88 anti-terror team of the Indonesian Cops is examining the function and activities of the JAD group in East Java.
” The group in East Java, although they belong to the JAD group, is being examined,” Hartono stated.
Previously, 2 presumed terrorists were jailed by the Densus 88 team in Tulungagung and Nganjuk in East Java province.
Among the 2 suspects, determined by his initials as MM (45), was detained in Tulungagung and the 2nd, identified as LAM (25), in Nganjuk. Both are believed to be members of the JAD group in the East Java area, Hartono said.
While making the arrests, cops took a number of pieces of proof– 2 firearms, a laptop, a cellphone, and a book on “jihadist fiqh”, he informed.
” The Densus is currently studying to fix the problem of terrorism in East Java and in the country in basic,” Hartono remarked.
From February to March, 2021, a total of 22 presumed terrorists were apprehended in East Java, he informed. They were thought to be members of the Fahim group, part of the Jemaah Islamiah (JI) group, which is associated with Al Qaeda, he included.
