Aceh govt urged to look for options to human-wildlife conflicts

In supporting the wildlife preservation in Aceh, Hasan advised authorities to probe several cases of dead wild animals, particularly Sumatran elephants, to understand whether their deaths are triggered by natural factors or activities of poachers seeking ivory and body parts.

If the deaths of the unfortunate Sumatran elephants are triggered by the poachers’ activities, the perpetrators need to be brought to justice in an undertaking to conserve the mammals and other endangered animals, he added.
