Pandemic; BKSDA Ensures Animals in Cikembulan Zoo be Well Treated

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The West Java Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) was inspecting the condition of animal collections in Cikembulan Zoo, Garut Regency. This effort was made since the wildlife park lost its income following the closure in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

The zoo management stated that they faced difficulties to purchase animal feed and meet the maintenance costs. Any savings had already been carried out in various sectors. However, they predicted that it will only last until June 2020.

The head of the Garut Conservation Area Section V, Dodi Arisandi, claimed the agency would not set aside the issue. “We continuously monitor the condition, there is even a new birth,” said Dodi on Sunday, May 10.

Based on the monitoring, Dodi assessed that the zoo will be safe until June 2020. For future needs, BKSDA committed to providing animal feed, given some of the animals were entrusted by the agency as well.

Previously, the operational manager of Cikembulan Zoo Rudi Arifin said the zoo management was striving to survive the pandemic by using up its savings to meet the animals’ needs.

“We have enough savings until June 2020, hopefully, this condition will soon return to normal,” Rudi pinned hope.
