Jakarta – A 5.3-magnitude earthquake struck Melonguane in North Sulawesi Province on Wednesday early morning, the Meteorology, Meteorology, and Geophysics Firm (BMKG) stated.
The quake, which struck at 3: 26 WIB (West Indonesia Time), was centered 176 kilometers northeast of Melonguane, at a depth of 91 kilometers.
No tsunami caution was provided following the quake.
However, the BMKG has attracted the local individuals to remain alert for aftershocks.
” Be careful of aftershocks that may take place,” the company stated.
No immediate report was received of any casualty or product damage.
Wednesday’s 5.3-magnitude quake was the current in a series of quakes to have actually hit the town.
On July 10, 2021, a 6.2-magnitude earthquake also struck Melonguaneg, according to the BMKG.
The quake’s center at sea was located some 112 kilometers southwest of Melonguane, at a depth of 10 kilometers, the company stated.
