Govt must focus on peace diplomacy in Papua: Home Speaker

Jakarta – Home of Representatives Speaker Puan Maharani advised the government to engage in serene diplomacy to resolve the dispute in Intan Jaya district, Papua, arguing that mankind needs to be prioritized in attending to issues on Papuan land.

She asked the government to pay severe attention to the number of cases involving violence being reported from Intan Jaya district of Papua, and especially concentrate on social protection insurance coverage for the civil society.

She further said that at the minute, the government’s attention has appeared in the channeling of the unique assigned fund (DAK), which requires to be stabilized with guidance to ensure that its usage is best on target and the intended benefits are realized.
