Food security strategic issue due to worldwide population increase: Ministry

Presently, Indonesia’s population has reached 280 million and is expected to grow to 300 million by 2030, he noted at the opening of the “Worldwide Future Fellows (GFF) Program: Food Security 2023” here on Monday.

” Understanding food security is one of President Joko Widodo’s top priority programs and it is totally supported by SOEs (Ministry). The food problem is really complex and (fixing it) needs services and partnerships from various celebrations, not simply the government,” the deputy minister stated.

Food security requires to be understood immediately in Indonesia since a number of products are still being imported in large quantities, he highlighted.

Presently, Indonesia is still importing about 1.5 million cattle per year and 3.6 million tons of raw sugar for industrial needs every year, he pointed out.

Hence, Mansury mentioned that he supports the GFF Program 2023 as a cooperation platform in between the general public sector, SOEs, economic sector, and neighborhoods for preparing strategies to expedite the realization of nationwide food security.

He stressed that cooperation among all celebrations is essential to optimize food production, circulation, and accessibility in Indonesia.

Therefore, the SOEs Ministry is making every effort to enhance organization designs, motivate modernization and technology application, in addition to establish a food ecosystem with the economic sector to answer the obstacles in the sector, he stated.
