Eight called suspects in Asabri graft case

The suspects will be held in custody for 20 days at the Attorney General’s Office’s Salemba detention home and at the Jambe detention home in Tigaraksa, Tangerang

Jakarta – The Attorney General’s Office, on Monday, called eight suspects in an alleged graft case associated to the management of financing and financial investment financing at state-owned insurance firm PT Asuransi Angkatan Bersenjata Republik Indonesia (Asabri).

The eight suspects consist of two former PT Asabri president directors, previous PT Asabri finance director, previous chief of the PT Asabri investment division, PT Prima Jaringan president director, PT Hanson International Tbk president director, and PT Trada Alam Minera commissioner.

The last 2 suspects, determined by their initials as BT and HH, were also named suspects in a graft case associated to the mismanagement of investment at state-owned insurance company Asuransi Jiwasraya.

Quickly after being named suspects, the examining group of the Attorney general of the United States’s Workplace apprehended all the suspects, except for BT and HH. They will be held in custody for 20 days from February 1 to February 20, 2021.

Both BT and HH were not apprehended because they had been held in custody as suspects in the Jiwasraya case.

” The suspects will be held in custody for 20 days at the Attorney general of the United States’s Workplace’s Salemba detention home and at the Jambe detention home in Tigaraksa, Tangerang,” Head of the Law Information Center at the Chief law officer’s Workplace Leonard Eben Ezer Simanjuntak mentioned on Monday.

Asabri apparently lost Rp10 trillion, as numerous stocks in its portfolio withstood losses of more than 95 percent in 2019.

The state company handles social insurance coverage and pension funds of the Indonesian military and authorities workers and workers of the Defense Ministry.
