BNPB admires 445 XX Papua PON health protocol volunteers

The Papuan volunteer company has substantial potential.

Jakarta – The National Disaster Mitigation Company (BNPB) rewarded 445 volunteers through the XX Papua National Sports Week (PON) Health Procedure Task Force.

In a written statement received here on Friday, the head of the task force Prasinta Dewi admired all celebrations that had supported the XX Papua PON health procedure reinforcing program started by BNPB, specifically the volunteers.

Head of BNPB Lieutenant General Ganip Warsito advised the local federal governments to keep in touch with the volunteers even after the closing of the nationwide sports event.

The volunteers– as one of the elements of the penta-helix partnership of COVID-19 handling– are expected to continue to be partners in helping the catastrophe mitigation efforts.

” The Papuan volunteer company has huge capacity. The BNPB hopes that the present partnership would be preserved and enhanced for future activities, for instance, helping the disaster prevention and readiness as well as disaster emergency response activities,” the firm head remarked.

In order to guarantee that the committee, athletes, authorities, and community maintain discipline in sticking to health protocols, the BNPB released volunteers to the 4 clusters of XX Papua PON: Jayapura City and District, Mimika District, in addition to Merauke District.

They have supervised for 20 days from Sunday (September 26) to Friday (October 15) to socialize and inform all parties involved in the occasion concerning health procedures, particularly the use of masks.

Since Wednesday, they had distributed 2,043,289 masks through mask booths and cars and trucks.

Prior to starting their task, the volunteers– who came from different regional organizations in Papua– needed to sign up with a capability structure program first that enlightened them on the health protocols and using InaRisk– the company’s disaster threat assessment website– as a reporting platform.

Amidst the implementation of the XX Papua PON, the volunteers’ health and security were guaranteed by the Health Procedure Job Force by conducting routine COVID-19 antigen swab tests.
