Atanius Murib’s body has yet to get left: cops

Jayapura, Papua – The body of Atanius Murib (16), a trainee of Ilaga senior high school (SMA) who was gunned down by unknown armed aggressors on Friday (Nov 20), had yet to be left from the criminal offense scene since Sunday, a policeman stated.

An evacuation team has been authorized by the family of deceased Atanius Murib in which its 16 members are all civilians. They consist of regional neighborhood members and the victim’s family members, Puncak Cops Chief Accessory Sen.Coms.Decky Saragih stated on Sunday.

Nevertheless, he had yet to be notified on the evacuation team’s departure, he told ANTARA who contacted him from Jayapura, the capital of Papua Province.

Saragih said the victim’s household did not include local law enforcement officers in the evacuation objective for security factors since armed Papuan criminal groups still operate in the area where the shooting occurrence happened.

Atanius Murib died at the scene that might only be reached on foot by strolling for about 15 hours from Ilaga Subdistrict, Puncak District, Papua Province.

The notorious armed groups in the Indonesian province continued their acts of horror in October.

On October 9, 2020, for example, an armed group assailed a joint fact-finding team (TGPF) set up by the government to investigate a recent shooting in Mamba village, Sugapa sub-district.

In the event, a TGPF member– Gadjah Mada University (UGM) lecturer Bambang Purwoko– was shot in the leg, while a TNI soldier– Very first Sgt Faisal Akbar of the Hitadipa Task Force– continual injuries on the waist.
