An Australian woman sentenced to four years jail time over the death of a cop on the Indonesian island of Bali was given early release on Thursday, and was keen to be reunited with family, her lawyer said.
Sara Connor, 49, was jailed in March 2017 together with British guy David Taylor for their roles in the death of a traffic cop, whose body was found on the popular Kuta beach with neck and head injuries.
Connor was released 13 months short of her full term due to her good behavior.
The 2, who were a couple, were attempted independently and Taylor, who remains in his mid 30 s, got a six-year term.
Wearing a headscarf, Connor did not comment as she left the prison surrounded by guards, who helped her through a scrum of professional photographers and into a lorry that took her to a migration center.
” I think everybody who will be launched will be extremely pleased, particularly when she wishes to fulfill the family, however I don ' t understand about the next strategy,” said Sienny Karmana, Connor ' s legal representative.
Karmana added that Connor would go back to Australia on Friday.
Throughout a trial that drew in substantial attention in Indonesia and Australia, the defendants both rejected murder and said a battle broke out over Connor ' s missing out on purse.
Connor had testified that she saw Taylor beating cop Wayan Sudarsa, but the judge ruled that she had actually held the victim down while he was being struck.
