IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Pollster Indikator Politik Indonesia on Tuesday reported that one of its studies revealed 61.9 percent of South Tangerang or Tangsel residents yearn for a fair and honest candidate for mayor after interviewing 820 people with voting rights.
“People in South Tangerang highly preferred mayoral candidates that are honest, trustworthy, and non-corrupt,” said Indikator Politik Indonesia Director Burhanuddin Muhtadi on November 17.
The survey that was held from October 28 – November 3, 2020, also revealed that respondents are looking for mayoral candidates who care for its people (18.2 percent), able to lead the city (11.8 percent), religious (3.6 percent), firm and authoritative (2.4 percent), and smart (1.2 percent).
However, according to the survey that has a 3.5 percent margin of error, 56.8 percent of respondents view money politics as a common practice while 43.2 percent consider money politics as unacceptable.
“Money politics is deemed reasonable, but a regional leader must be free of corruption,” said Burhanuddin in an online event.
