IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Wishnutama said the government is preparing three-star hotels as isolation venues for 14,000 Covid-19 carriers.
“We are preparing facilities that can accommodate around 14,000 patients starting this month until December,” said the minister in a press conference via the BNPB Youtube account, Thursday, September 17, 2020.
He explained that patients without symptoms or those developing mild symptoms are obliged to undergo independent isolation for 14 days. They will be provided with meals, drinks, and laundry services in the government facility.
Their health development will also be monitored by health workers tasked by the Health Ministry in each hotel. “[We are also] preparing supporting facilities, such as medicine and ambulance,” he added.
In this program, Wishnutama added, the ministry allocated a budget of Rp100 billion. Hotels that are designated as self-isolation sites will be closed for public guests. This additional accommodation is prioritized in five regions, namely Jakarta, Bali, North Sumatra, West Java, and South Kalimantan.
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo previously announced the government was cooperating with several hotels to be switched into Covid-19 quarantine facilities in an effort to prevent further virus transmission among family members.
