West Java Police Chief Says Puncak Route Won’t Be Closed on New Year’s Eve

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Bandung  West Java Police Chief Inspector General Suntana said there will not be closure on routes heading to Puncak Bogor on New Year’s Eve. “The routes will not be blocked but [possibly] be diverted,” he said on Thursday, Dec. 23.

Suntana said the police will monitor the traffic density towards Bogor’s popular destination area.

“If [the traffic is congested] at 6 p.m. on the 31st, we will divert the traffic flow heading to Puncak to Ciawi route or Cileungsi route that leads to Bandung,” he explained.

He asserted that all areas in West Java will be monitored. “Other than traffic lanes, tourist attractions will be secured, as well as areas that potentially be a threat to terrorism activities.”

West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil also guaranteed security during Christmas. He said that based on reports from all parties, the situation in West Java is under control so that Christians could carry out religious activities safely and conveniently.

“As noted in the circular of the Religious Affairs Ministry, it is recommended that Christmas events be held in a hybrid system and the capacity is limited to 50 percent,” said Kamil in front of the Gedung Sate complex, Bandung, Thursday, December 23.
