VP Ma’ruf Amin to Receive COVID-19 Booster Shot Today

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Vice President Ma’ruf Amin will receive a booster shot of the COVID-19 vaccine today, January 12, 2022. “Yes, at the vice president’s official residence,” confirmed the spokesman for the VP, Masduki Baidlowi, on Tuesday.

Ma’ruf is eligible for the booster vaccination which is prioritized for the older adults or elderly as he is now age 78.

President Joko Jokowi Widodo earlier announced that the government decided to give boosters starting January 12, 2022.

“The government will carry out the third vaccination prioritizing the elderly and vulnerable groups,” said the President as broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel, Tuesday.

The government noted that the booster dose could be given six months after the primary vaccination course. Meanwhile, Ma’ruf received the second dose in mid-March 2021.

The Health Ministry spokesman Widyawati said people who are included in the priority group for the vaccine booster can check tickets and vaccination schedules on the PeduliLindungi website and mobile application.

“The ticket can be used at the nearest health facility or vaccination site at the appointed time,” said Widyawati in a written statement, Tuesday, January 11.
