Johnny Depp’s legal team played a confidential tipster’s video at his libel trial Friday focused on showing ex-wife Amber Heard had a violent streak and as soon as batter her sis.
The last-minute submission came in the third week of Depp’s claim versus Britain’s tabloid The Sun in London’s High Court over a 2018 story accusing him of being a “partner beater”.
The Pirates of the Caribbeans franchise star says the incorrect accusation destroyed his track record and cost him rewarding Hollywood tasks.
The Sun counters it can back up its claim by 14 cases of abuse versus the 34- year-old design and starlet in a three-year period leading up to Heard’s 2016 choice to file for divorce.
Depp’s lawyer David Sherborne disrupted planned testament Friday and asked judge Andrew Nicol to permit him to play what he called “vital” new evidence in the event.
Nicol concurred despite the star-studded case running behind schedule on what was supposed to be its last day.
The undated video revealed Amber’s sibling Whitney talking with a group of ladies by a sunny swimming pool.
” Did you get in a battle or something?” one women asks Whitney in the video.
” Oh ha ha thank you.
” I can’t think Amber beat your ass,” the females tells Whitney with a smile on her face. “I understand you can beat her ass.”
A woman then appears to inspect Whitney’s cheek and arm.
” She actually whooped your butt,” she tells Whitney.
” Yeah, I’m done. I guess I’m done speaking about it,” Whitney responds in a more major tone.

‘ Bad truth TV’
Depp’s lawyer stated he got the video after Whitney on Thursday rejected that Heard had a mood and regularly attacked her partner.
Sherborne stated the tipster comprehended Whitney was lying and had video evidence.
The attorney added that it showed that Whitney was tailoring her testament to fit her sibling’s own account.
” There is no rejection of the truth that Ms Amber Heard battered Whitney Heard which there are injuries,” Depp’s attorney said.
Depp claims that Heard assaulted him frequently and he just acted out versus her in self-defense.
Whitney discussed Friday that the video was an outtake of a “actually bad truth TELEVISION show” in which the cast was attempting to make “a really, extremely dull story more interesting”.
” We were referencing a spoken argument my sibling and I had actually got into the night before,” she stated.
Whitney included that other members of the cast were “looking for injuries that were not there”.
The Sun‘s lawyer Sasha Wass dismissed the video as “flippant, definitely not serious”.
” This is a light-hearted exchange, there is no evidence of any injuries and it will take the matter … no further,” Wass firmly insisted.
Both legal teams have implicated the opposites’ witnesses of lying under oath.
Whitney testified Thursday that Heard only hit Depp on one recorded event and had never ever been violent towards her or anybody else.
The case is because of complete after legal submissions on Tuesday.
