Unilever Cikarang Cluster; Family Members Infected with COVID-19

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The Unilever factory in Cikarang, Bekasi became the latest Covid-19 cluster after 21 workers of the company’s tea production engineering division were exposed to the virus. The workers then transmitted the new coronavirus to 15 family members at home, bringing the count to 36 confirmed cases.

The Bekasi Regency government claimed that there had been non new cases from the cluster.

“Over the last two days, we have no new cases,” the regency’s Covid-19 Task Force spokesman, Alamsyah, told Tempo on Sunday, July 5. 

He added that all workers have taken swab tests, and “the results are out.”

According to Alamsyah, most patients from the cluster are treated at the Bekasi General Hospital and Wisma Atlet Emergency Hospital, while some are in self-isolation at the Jababeka Covid-19 quarantine center. 

As of today, as listed on https://pikokabsi.bekasikab.go.id/, Bekasi Regency has 285 confirmed cases—41 active, 224 recoveries, and 20 deaths. The local government has decided to extend the regency’s large-scale social restriction along with other Jakarta buffer areas.
