Transitional PSBB Violators Must Get ‘Shock Therapy’: Jakarta

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria called on the public to file a report of any violation against orders during the transitional large-scale social restriction or PSBB to a new normal era. The city still recorded many violations in restaurants, shopping malls, offices, and other public spaces.

Ahmad Riza asserted that the city administration will follow up on the report and impose a sanction on violators.

“Severe sanctions are necessary as a lesson and a shock therapy for all and those committed violations,” said the deputy governor to Tempo on Tuesday, July 14, 2020.

According to him, reports could be in the form of photos or videos that cannot be refuted. People can use digital platforms to make a report to the government, such as social media.

The Gerindra politician confirmed several violations in shopping malls and restaurants. One of them occurred at the Sushi Tei store in Puri Indah Mall, West Jakarta, as its visitors’ number was higher than allowed.

The Jakarta Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) imposed a fine on 169 businesses violating the transitional PSBB policy from June 5 to July 12, 2020. Of which, 23 were tourism businesses such as discotheque, massage parlors, and karaoke places.
