IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – A total of 601,380 doses of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines landed in Indonesia today, October 14. The Ministry of Communications and Informatics’ Director General of Information and Public Communication, Usman Kansong, said the vaccines are immediately distributed to provinces.
“The arrival of the Pfizer vaccine in its finished form (ready-to-use vaccine) is directly distributed to eight provinces,” said Usman in his statement.
The eight provinces are South Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, North Maluku, North Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, Maluku, West Sulawesi, and West Java, he outlined.
On the same day, Indonesia also received 672,600 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine. Indonesia has thus far obtained 282,490,700 doses of vaccines from various brands, both in the form of ready-to-use vaccines and raw materials or bulk.
According to Usman, accelerating the COVID-19 vaccination in regions is necessary to achieve herd immunity as an effort to contain the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, he added that regions needed enough supply of COVID-19 vaccines.
