IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The government spokesman for COVID-19 Handling, Wiku Adisasmito, said the bed occupancy rate of patients diagnosed with the coronavirus disease in Jakarta hospitals had hit 80 percent.
“We admit that the recent trend of bed occupancy of both isolation and ICU rooms has reached 80 percent in Jakarta,” Wiku told Tempo on Monday, Dec. 21, 2020.
Wiku added the bed occupancy rate in some provinces was still quite normal. This was the basis for the government to beef up efforts in suppressing virus transmission, in the form of health promotion including revision of policies related to health issues. “And curative efforts, such as by improving the quality of health services,” he added.
Jakarta Health Agency Head Widyastuti reported that as of December 20, a total of 5,691 out of 6,663 isolation beds were occupied.
“This means the occupancy rate has reached 85 percent. Likewise, 722 of 907 ICU beds are filled, so that 80 percent of the beds are used,” said Widyastuti in a written statement on Monday, Dec. 21, 2020. The capital city has 98 hospitals tapped as the COVID-19 referral hospitals thus far.
Through the Gubernatorial Instruction No. 55 of 2020, the Jakarta Provincial Administration is committed to increasing the capacity of isolation and ICU beds to 7,171 and 1,020, respectively.
