IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Statistics Indonesia (BPS) on Monday reported Indonesia’s exports generated US$14.39 billion, which is a 3.09 percent month-to-month growth compared to September’s US$13.96 billion.
This was announced by Statistics Indonesia’s deputy of distribution and service statistics, Setianto, in a virtual press conference on Monday, November 16.
Compared to 2019 that scored US$14.88 billion, October’s achievement in 2020 is still far from last year as it logged -3.29 percent year-on-year.
Despite being unable to achieve last year’s export value, this year’s achievement shows a growing trend after Indonesia’s exports reached their lowest point in March 2, 2020, not long after COVID-19 cases started to be announced.
In March 2020, the country’s exports reached US$14.07 billion, yet the figure dropped consecutively in April and May to US$12.19 billion and US$10.53 billion.
Indonesia’s exports began to grow in June 2020 with Us$12.01 billion and July with US$13.73 billion. A slight drop, however, took place in August with Us$13.1 billion prior to an increase in September with US$14.01 billion. The upward trend resumed until October 2020.
