State Secretariat Minister Clarifies Changes of Omnibus Law Drafts

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – State Secretariat Minister Pratikno said there was no change in the substance of the latest draft of the Omnibus Law compared with the previous 812-page version. A new draft version of the job creation law emerged to be 1,187 pages long.

According to Pratikno, it was common should there be changes in the draft format before the president reads it.

“Every technical improvement such as typo and others are done under the approval of the DPR (House of Representatives), which is proved by the initials of the Legislation Body (Baleg) Head,” he said on Thursday, October 22.

Pratikno added that determining the similarity of documents did not depend on the number of pages. Because, the same document in different formats of paper sizes, margins, and fonts could result in different numbers of pages.

“Every law that will be signed by the President uses the President’s paper format with a standard size,” the minister said.

The latest version of the new law was previously given by Pratikno to Muhammadiyah, the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), and the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI). He was ordered by President Jokowi to disseminate and gather input from the three parties.

The 1,187 pages long draft of the Omnibus Law uses a legal paper format measuring 21.59 x 35.56 cm and a Bookman Old Style font size 12. Compared to the 812-page version, the line spacing between articles was changed.
