State Intelligence BIN Denies Existence of ‘Rajawali Special Squad’

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta The Indonesian state intelligence agency (BIN) denies the existence of a Rajawali special squad, which has been rumored to be within the intelligence agency.

BIN deputy VII, Wawan Hari Purwanto, said that it is actually a code name for a squad that was only formed for the inauguration of state-intelligence higher education school (STIN) and the inauguration of the STIN initiator monument.

“A special squad within BIN does not exist. The Rajawali is a code name for education purposes that changes dynamically,” wrote Purwanto in a written statement on Tuesday, September 15.

He explains that the inauguration coincides with the STIN 2020 Dies Natalis, which is specifically held to educate and train its participants about the dynamics of the intelligence world in the field and other tactical skills.

He also denies allegations linking the troops to the NAZI’s Schutz Staffel (SS) paramilitary in Germany during the second world war. Purwanto claims the metaphor has been stretched too far.

“I am a former STIN rector who is now referred to as the governor, which is why I understand the education system implemented by BIN,” Purwanto wrote.
