South Bengkulu Struck by 5.2-magnitude Earthquake

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) recorded a magnitude 5.2 earthquake had struck the area of South Bengkulu regency, Bengkulu, which took place at 23: 02 Western Indonesia Time (WIB) on Thursday, September 3.

The BMKG official website states that the epicenter of the earthquake was located 45-kilometers southwest of South Bengkulu from the depths of 22-kilometers at 4.6 south latitude and 102,53 east longitude. 

The agency also assures that the early tsunami detection system has not been triggered by the earthquake. The earthquake was felt across the region’s vicinity such as in Kepahiang, Enggano, Bengkulu City, Manna, South Bengkulu, and Liwa.
