SKK Migas Goes ‘Aggressive’ to Meet 2030 Oil and Gas Production Goal

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta The Upstream Oil and Gas Special Regulatory Taskforce (SKK Migas) announced that it will aggressively push next year’s oil drillings in order to meet its production goal of 1 million barrels of oil per day (BOPD) and 12 billion standard cubic feet per day (BSCFD) by the year 2030.

SKK Migas Deputy of Planning, Jaffee Suardin, said the 2021 drilling activities will be pushed to increase two folds from this year’s drilling realization estimates on 268 oil wells.

“We are coordinating with contractors to push for 600 oil well drillings in 2021,” wrote Jafee in a written statement on November 11.

Jafee asserts that drilling will be the key to increase Indonesia’s oil and gas production and reserves. The goal set by SKK Migas will see drillings beefed up 20-30 percent each year with hopes of being able to drill 1,000 – 1,100 oil wells by 2030.

He also announced that the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry (ESDM) and the Finance Ministry has granted the SKK Migas with a number of incentives to help grow partnership contracts (KKS), which is expected to rejuvenate investments, especially in oil and gas drilling.
