Scoot to Open Yogyakarta-Semarang-Singapore Route

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Singaporean low-cost carrier Scoot planned to open direct flights from two Indonesia’s regions, Yogyakarta and Semarang, to Singapore. Both new routes will start on September 29 and October 2020, respectively.

The airline’s Chief Commercial Officer, Calvin Chan, said the flights could be booked through the official website, mobile application, and registered travel agents. To anticipate changes of travel plans due to Covid-19, the airline extended its policy on free changing flight dates for new bookings until the end of November 2020.

According to Calvin, Yogyakarta will be the first new destination to start operating on September 29, 2020. Meanwhile, there is still a tentative schedule for the Semarang route in October 2020.

“The schedule is subject to change, depending on regulatory policies and Covid-19 situation development. The new routes using the narrow-body Airbus A320 are taken over from an airline under the same group, SilkAir, which was announced in November 2018,” said Calvin via a press release on Wednesday, September 2.

Calvin also announced that the budget airline will resume the routes from Pekanbaru and Palembang to Singapore on September 17 and September 22, respectively, following the Covid-19 suspension since March 2020.

Scoot’s Singapore-Surabaya route had also been resumed since July 2020. However, the opening of the routes only serves passengers having important trips such as repatriation and official trips.
