The Rolling Stones on Wednesday released a previously lost track, “Scarlet”, taped at guitarist Ronnie Wood’s home in 1974 and including Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page.

The tune integrates Mick Jagger’s swaggering vocal with richly textured guitars and is explained in a statement as “as transmittable and obscene as anything the band cut in this hallowed period, a holy grail for any Stones devotee”.

The long-lost track likewise includes Blind Faith’s Rick Grech on bass.

” I remember first jamming this with Jimmy and Keith in Ronnie [Wood’s] basement studio. It was an excellent session,” said Jagger.

” It’s an ultra-rare look by me outside of Led Zeppelin in the ’70 s,” stated Page on his Twitter account, remembering how he had actually gone to Wood’s house to play some guitar solos.

” I arrived early on that evening and got to do it immediately within a few takes. It sounded excellent to me and I left them to it.”

Page added Jagger had called him just recently and he got to hear the completed variation.

” It sounded excellent and truly strong.”

The Rolling Stones in April released a brand-new track “Residing in a Ghost Town”, part-recorded throughout the coronavirus lockdown.

That tune, “Scarlet” and two other formerly unreleased tracks will appear on a brand-new multi-format variation of the Stone’s 1973 album Goats Head Soup in September.
