IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The police report filed by non-government organization Pro Demokrasi (ProDem) against ministers Luhut Pandjaitan and Erick Thohir on suspicions of their involvement in an alleged PCR business has officially been rejected by the Metro Jaya Police.
ProDem chairperson Iwan Sumule on Monday said police investigators ordered them to complete a technical requirement, which is a notification letter prior to submitting an official police report.
“This is the first time a mass-organization intending to file a report on an alleged criminal offense by state administrators is told to write a letter to leaders of the Regional Police Headquarters (Polda),” said Sumule at the Metro Jaya Police headquarters on November 15.
He believed this technical procedure should not be mandated when an individual intends to file a police report.
Previously reported, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan on Monday responded to news of ProDemokrasi planning to report him to the Metro Jaya Police on the suspicions of running businesses related to PCR tests.
He firmly challenged the accusations, saying he was ready to be audited, “I have told you before, just conduct an audit,” he said on November 15 at the Metro Jaya Police headquarters.
Luhut Pandjaitan said he was unconcerned about the plan and insisted that accusations linking him to PCR test businesses must be based on data rather than “rumors or feelings.”
“We must learn to speak with data, not with feelings or rumors,” said Luhut, who lamented that dealing with such accusations is just a waste of time. “This is exhausting, just for the sake of popularity. It would be done with an audit.”
