Presidential Palace Redirects Questions About Job Creation Law

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta The State Palace has yet to issue any statement regarding the passing of the Omnibus Job Creation Law (UU Cipta Kerja) as President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s spokesperson Fadjroel Rachman urged the people to address their questions to the Coordinating Economic Minister.

“The Coordinating Economic Minister and related state ministers will provide explanations about the Job Creation Law,” Fadjroel wrote in a text message to Tempo on Friday, October 9.

The spokesperson stated that the constitutional way to express objections against certain articles in the law is by filing a judicial review to the Constitutional Court.

Currently, labor groups, education organizations, up to religious organizations including the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), have announced their readiness to challenge the Job Creation Law at the Constitutional Court once it is officially ratified by President Jokowi into law.

Up until Wednesday, the Job Creation Law that the House passed on Monday had not arrived yet at the President’s desk. The law states the House is granted seven days to perfect the law before it is officially handed over to the President.
