President Jokowi’s Vaccination Certificate Exposed to Public; Ministry Responds

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – A COVID-19 vaccination certificate of President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo widely circulated on social media, particularly Twitter. The certificate shows the personal data and the citizen’s identification number (NIK) of the state head.

Many netizens suspected the data breach was linked to the government’s COVID-19 surveillance app PeduliLindungi.

Communications and Information (Kominfo) Minister Johnny G. Plate claimed there was no data leak from the app. “The integration of e-Hac into the PeduliLindungi app, and the migration of the PL, PCare, and Silacak apps to the Kominfo data center have just been carried out. At present, the PeduliLindungi data at the Kominfo DC (data center) are safe,” he told Tempo on Friday, September 3.

Johnny said the issue should be asked to the Health Ministry. “It is better [to ask] the Health Ministry or wait for the official release from the Health Ministry as the guardian of the COVID-19 data,” he said.

Tempo is still trying to reach the Health Ministry’s spokesperson for COVID-19 vaccination, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, but still to no avail.

The authenticity of the President’s certificate is also not yet known. Based on the screenshot photo circulating on the internet, the certificate looks similar to those available in the PeduliLindungi app.

It was written that the certificate of COVID-19 vaccination belongs to Ir. Joko Widodo with his personal data of birth date, NIK, QR code, vaccination ID number, type of vaccine used, and date of vaccination.

In addition to the vaccination certificate, other netizens also shared the photos of Jokowi’s e-KTP (electronic ID Card), exposing the latter’s address and other personal data.

The COVID-19 vaccination certificates in the PeduliLindungi app can only be accessed after users log in, which requires an email address or a phone number, and afterwards the app will send an OTP (One-Time Password) to users to access their vaccination certificates.
