IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – President Joko Widodo or Jokowi landed at the Glasgow Prestwick Airport in Scotland on Sunday evening (October 31) after a three-hour flight aboard a Garuda Indonesia flight, the President and his entourage has officially attended the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26).
Citing the Presidential Secretariat press bureau, he was welcomed by Desra Percaya, the Indonesian Ambassador to the United Kingdom and accredited to Ireland and the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
Present at the welcoming were Colonel Ranon Sugiman, Defence Attaché at Indonesian Embassy in London, UK, along with a number of local government officials.
The COP26 climate summit will be led by the United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson and attended by state leaders and government leaders from 121 countries.
President Jokowi, in a statement he made at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport on October 29, said Indonesia reasserts its consistency and pledges to meet the commitment goals that were established.
“We do not plan to dwell on rhetoric that we cannot commit to,” the President wrote.
In his visit to the United Kingdom, the President is also scheduled to hold bilateral business meetings with UK’s business leaders that have invested and plan to broaden their investment in Indonesia.
Arriving in Glasgow with the President were Coordinating Minister of Economics Airlangga Hartarto, Maritime and Investment Coordinating Minister Luhut Pandjaitan, Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, SOEs Minister Erick Thohir, and State Secretary Pramono Anung.
