Police to Start Investigating Suspects in AGO Fire Tomorrow

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The National Police’s Crime Investigation Unit (Bareskrim) is scheduled to examine eight suspects in the fire case of the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) building on Tuesday, October 27, 2020.

“They will be questioned on Tuesday, October 27 at 10: 00 a.m.,” said the Director of General Crimes Brig. Gen. Ferdy Sambo in his statement on Monday, October 26, 2020.

Ferdy said that the investigation would be spearheaded by a joint investigation team of the police’s general crime directorate and Jakarta Metro Police, and the South Jakarta Resort Police at the Bareskrim Investigation Room.

The eight suspects are construction workers (identified as T, H, S, K, and IS), the foreman of the workers (UAM), the director of the cleaning service firm PT APM (R), and commitment maker official (PPK) of the AGO (NH). They were suspected with Article 55 of the Criminal Code with a maximum of five-year imprisonment.

A huge fire broke out at the main building of the Attorney General’s Office in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on August 22, 2020, at around 7: 10 p.m.

Ferdy Sambo explained that the fire allegedly started in the Staffing Bureau Hall on the sixth floor of the main building where the five construction workers smoked cigarettes, which the embers caused an open flame.
