Police: Small Explosion in Central Jakarta Unrelated to Terrorism

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta The Central Jakarta Police Chief Grand Commissioner Heru Novianto said that security will be added in the area of Menteng, Central Jakarta in the crime scene that saw an explosion take place. Police claim the security will not be significant as it was not deemed an act of terrorism.

“It will be the standard security measure since it wasn’t an act of terrorism,” said commissioner Heru Novianto on Sunday, July 5.

On Sunday afternoon at 15: 00 Western Indonesia Times (WIB), an SUV parked at the side of the road in Menteng was believed to have been thrown with an explosive device. Police reports suggest the possible motive and target in the attack is still being investigated.

According to Heru, the car owner is identified as a businessman and police currently will build the case based on the suspicion that the businessman could possibly be a victim of a business-related attack. Eyewitness reports suggest a motorcycle had passed the car with its drivers throwing an alleged improvised explosive device.
