IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The National Police reported that a case involving three children aged under 10 in East Luwu of South Sulawesi was an alleged molestation. The police spokesman Brig. Gen. Rusdi Hartono said it was not a child rape.
“It’s not rape as the issue goes viral on social media and becomes a topic among the public. This is what we need to know,” said Rusdi in an online press conference on Wednesday, October 13.
Rusdi explained that the police considered it an alleged molestation after obtaining the result of a post mortem at the Mailili Health Community Center (Puskesmas), which was received on October 15, 2019.
The police team also interviewed a doctor named Nurul on October 11, 2021. Based on Nurul’s statement, there were no abnormalities in the victims’ genital and rectal organs. The team also visited a doctor at Sorowako Vale Hospital.
“We are informed that there were inflammations around the vagina and rectum [of victims],” said Rusdi, adding that the hospital was chosen by the mother of the three victims.
The doctor gave antibiotics and paracetamol for pain relief and advised the mother to bring the young children to a gynecologist. However, the mother reportedly canceled the scheduled examination. “She was afraid that her children got trauma,” Rusdi added.
The alleged child rape case in East Luwu came under the public spotlight after a public journalism initiative Project Multatuli published news about the incident. In October 2019, a mother filed a police report that her three children were raped by their biological father. East Luwu Police launched an investigation. However, it was stopped due to a lack of evidence.
