Police-Local Govt Form Special Team following Akidi Tio’s Donation

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – South Sumatra Regional Police Chief Insp. Gen. Eko Indra Heri said it was a great responsibility to receive a donation for Covid-19 relief totaling Rp2 trillion from the extended family of the late local entrepreneur Akidi Tio.

“We have the responsibility to channel the good intentions of the late Akidi’s family to the community. Of course, we will still comply with existing legal procedures,” said Eko during the handover ceremony on Monday, July 26.

Eko ensured that the South Sumatra Regional Police and the Regional Health Agency would establish a special team in order to distribute aid on target.

The donation was symbolically handed by the private doctor of the family, Hardi Darmawan, to the South Sumatra Provincial Government to help contain the pandemic in the region.

South Sumatra Governor Herman Deru expressed appreciation to the extended family of the philanthropist on behalf of the people. “We are proud to accept this assistance from the family of the deceased. Moreover, it is a huge amount totaling Rp2 trillion,” he said.

Herman said the Akidi Tio’s donation would be distributed to all residents affected by the Covid-19 pandemic in South Sumatra in the form of food, medical equipment, and medicines, as well as health protocol facilities and infrastructure.
