Police Allegedly Attacked by Acid during 1310 Anti-Omnibus Law Rally

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Police officers securing the rally against the Omnibus Law on Job Creation today, October 13, were allegedly thrown by acid inside a baseball-sized plastic bag.

“We are currently investigating whether it is acid or not,” said Jakarta Metro Police Chief Insp. Gen. Nana Sudjana in Sudirman, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, October 13, 2020.

Nana said the police’s Gegana bomb-disposal squad has been dispatched to investigate the content of the chemical liquid.

The 1310 Rally against the new omnibus law held by PA 212 at the Arjuna Wijaya Horse Statue, Central Jakarta ended in chaos after a group of people threw stones and bottles at the police.

Based on Tempo‘s observation at the location, such provocation was committed by people who were mostly teenagers. Their appearance was different from the PA 212 mass who donned religious costumes.

Until now, the police were pushing back the masses to Senen areas and HI Roundabout. They threw stones after police fired tear gas.
