Police: 69 Terrorist Inmates Transferred to Jakarta

IDNEWSNOW.COM, JakartaThe Indonesian National Police (Polri) on Friday announced that their counterterrorism detachment, Densus 88, was transferring 69 terrorist inmates to Jakarta. The inmates were arrested in South Sulawesi and Papua. 

National Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Ahmad Ramadhan said 58 out of them were linked to the Villa Mutiara terrorist network in Makassar. 

“There are 11 other terrorists from the same network but they managed to flee to Merauke,” Ramadhan wrote in a statement on July 2. 

The alleged terrorists are being transferred to the capital city of Jakarta to undergo further legal proceedings and are currently detained at West Java’s Cikeas terrorist prison facility.

“The transfer went smoothly and all of the inmates are being placed at the special prison for crimes involving terrorism under the watchful eyes of Densus 88 counterterrorism squad,” he stated.
