Pedulilindungi Integrated with 15 Apps; Health Ministry: Data Encrypted

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The Chief of Digital Transformation Office of the Health Ministry, Setiaji, ensured the security of citizens’ personal data in the Pedulilindungi COVID-19 application which is now integrated with 15 mobile apps. 

“The app partners do not store any data from Pedulilindungi,” Setiaji told Tempo on Friday, October 8.

He added that the data sent are in the form of encrypted tokens which could not be used by the two applications, Pedulilindungi and partner apps, to identify individual users. Servers of the partner apps did not store users’ data, location data when check-in and check-out, or forward it to other systems.

“The information given is about the status of people whether or not they are allowed to enter [a public space] through the color code,” Setiaji explained.

The mobile app is officially used for digital COVID-19 contact tracing in Indonesia. It is mandatory for people who use public transportation as well as an entry requirement to shopping centers, restaurants, and a number of public places.

The Pedulilindungi app can now be accessed via Gojek, Tokopedia, Grab, Traveloka, Tiket, Dana, Shopee, Livin’ by Mandiri, Cinema XXI, LinkAja, Goers, Jaki, BNI Mobile, MCash, and Loket.
