PDIP Branch ‘Irked’ by Ganjar Pranowo in Future Presidential Race

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta Head of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) Central Java chapter, Bambang Wunaryo criticized Central Java governor Ganjar Pranowo for what he believes has taken more attention towards the 2024 presidential election rather than his task as governor.

“He spends more of his energy for the presidential candidacy, which is the Chairperson’s domain. Ganjar [moved towards the presidential election] with the assumption of high electability and fait accompli the Chair,” Wunaryo argued on Sunday, May 23.

He believes Ganjar Pranowo had ignored the mandate from the Party and the public he currently leads.

“Your task is as a governor of Central Java, don’t think about running for presidency yet. If you are that great you would be nominated by the Chairperson,” he added.

Wunaryo’s frustration comes right after the Central Java chapter of PDIP did not invite Ganjar Pranowo in a meeting with Puan Maharani, who is the daughter of PDIP leader Megawati Soekarnoputri and the current House Speaker.

In a number of political surveys, Ganjar indeed ranks within the top 5 figures in the eyes of the public with the best chances to run for presidency in the 2024 presidential election. The survey results determine that he outshines Puan Maharani and Tri Rismaharini as figures from PDIP.
