Pasar Jaya Confirms Covid-19 Cases Found in 8 Markets

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Jakarta-owned market operator PD Pasar Jaya reported the new coronavirus or Covid-19 transmission in its eight traditional markets.

Pasar Jaya CEO Arief Nasrudin said the revelation came after the Community Health Center (Puskesmas) and Health Agency conducted rapid tests up to swab tests for traders.

“Most of the infected traders do not show symptoms,” said Arief to Tempo, Thursday, June 11.

Traditional markets that have positive Covid-19 cases include Serdang Market, Rawa Kerbau Market, and Perumnas Klender Market. As many as nine positive traders in Serdang Market, two traders in Rawa Kerbau Market, and dozens of traders in Klender Market.

Arief said the government was still screening traders in several markets. PD Pasar Jaya manages around 60 markets across the capital city. Traditional markets with positive cases will be closed for a day to get disinfectant sprays.

Meanwhile, traders tested positive for Covid-19 were instantly put in isolation for fourteen days at their homes as they are asymptomatic carriers.

“The Health Agency is also tracing the history of positive traders. Some of them got infected in their home areas,” Arief said.
