Obeying Health Protocols Crucial Despite Low Covid-19 Cases: Task Force

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta The Covid-19 task force on Wednesday addressed the dwindling statistics of coronavirus cases Indonesia recently logged – below 500 daily cases – which is a contrast to the peak of what is considered to be the second wave that daily recorded 50,000 cases and 2,000 deaths just months prior.

However, the task force’s spokesperson Hery Trianto insisted that obeying face mask mandates coupled with growing vaccination rate can be attributed to this positive news.

“For sure this is a great achievement, but we must not be contemptuous. The situation is still a pandemic and we must not let our guard down in practicing health protocols,” said Hery in a virtual discussion on November 10.

Apart from preventing viral transmissions, Hery rallied more people to take their share of Covid-19 vaccine shots as it not only prevents spreading the covid but crucially reduces the risk of death caused by the virus that was first recorded in Wuhan, China.

“We must learn from other countries that have 80 percent vaccination rates but continue to log high numbers of infections above 60,000, along with daily deaths of over one thousand. This has happened in the United States and Russia,” he added.
