New Zealand Sends Indonesia AstraZeneca Vaccines Under COVAX

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi in a statement on Monday announced the arrival of 684,400 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine doses that marks the inaugural shipment from the New Zealand government under the COVAX facility.

Through this latest shipment, Indonesia currently has received a total of 292 million vaccine doses.It als marks New Zealand’s commitment in backing the vaccination programs in Asia – Pacific countries, mainly Indonesia.

“This marks the first time New Zealand has partnered in dose-sharing with Indonesia,” said Minister Marsudi on October 25. 

Another bilateral partnership between the two countries also came in the form of improving Covid-19 testing capabilities by the Eijkman Institute for Molecular Biology. “A partnership has also been established with UNICEF to increase public health capacity and medical tools in Indonesia,” she added. 

The New Zealand Ambassador to Indonesia Kevin Burnett stated that the two countries have long engaged in partnerships and will continue to support Indonesia in its pandemic responses and assist in future challenges.
