New Normal: Mount Bromo Reopens to Tourists Soon

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Probolinggo  A spokesperson for the Probolinggo COVID-19 handling task force, Anang Budi Yoelijanto, said Mount Bromo will be the first tourist attraction in Probolinggo regency, East Java, that will be ready to reopen soon since the COVID-19 closure under the strict health protocols.

This is in line with the instruction issued by Probolinggo Regent P. Tantriana Sari following the decision of the central COVID-19 task force. “We are now selectively preparing the reopening of tourist destinations in Probolinggo regency, including Mount Bromo,” said Anang in Probolinggo on Monday, June 29.

Anang said that not every tourist area will be reactivated, and that the first will be Mount Bromo tourist areas in Sukapura district, followed by Bentar Beach in Gending district.

“We are ordered by the Regent to make preparations, starting from disseminating [the health protocols], mentoring, visiting, up to conducting simulations. “If the simulations run well and show good results, [the tourist areas] will be reopened,” Anang added.

As for the operations, the Probolinggo COVID-19 task force has selected several hotels as monitoring posts. A number of restaurants will be then chosen as models for the implementation of the new normal order.

“Later, all hotels will be monitored and assisted on the implementation of health protocols, as well as other tourism players, such as jeep rental and horse owners,” Anang said.
