MPR Deputy Laments Social Minister Risma’s Outburst of Anger

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Deputy Speaker Jazilul Fawaid in a video published on Tuesday lamented Social Minister Tri Rismaharani (Risma) who turned mad at someone in a meeting which was recorded. The Minister, in the video that went viral, could be seen scolding a person involved in a government aid program touted the ‘family hope program’ during a meeting in Gorontalo.

“I received information that Bu Risma (Rismaharani) had once again burst out in anger, it’s a recurrence,” said Fawaid on October 5. “I think Risma might need to undergo therapy and be patient.”

He argued that even positive suggestions could have a negative effect if communicated through anger as it can potentially offend and spark negative responses from other parties.

The National Awakening Party (PKB) deputy chairperson opined that Minister Risma should act wiser in public, especially when her intentions are in the context of providing advice or giving instructions.

“It’s undignified when a State Official in giving advice uses accusatory tones as if every other person is brainless. I think she must be wiser in expressing her words,” said Fawaid.

In response, Social Ministry’s secretary general Harry Hikmat said the incident hapened due to a miscommunication and claimed that Minister Risma had personally apologized to the people involved. “It was a miscommunication since the meeting she led was strict and there was a plethora of aspects that was discussed” said Hikmat on October 4.
