Minister Says MSMEs Migrating to Digital Platforms See Revenue Hike

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Minister of Cooperatives and Micro, Small, Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Teten Masduki, reported that owners of restaurants and cafes who moved their business to online or digital markets have seen revenue growth.

“People now prefer to shop online, and many restaurants and cafes that cannot fully operate produce ready-to-eat or ready-to-cook products for online markets and see an increase in sales,” said Teten in an online discussion in Jakarta, Monday, October 26, 2020.

Teten added that businesses are promoting their products through online channels, such as social media, digital platforms or e-commerce, and so on.

On the same occasion, the spokesperson of the national Covid-19 mitigation task force, Wiku Adisasmito, commented that people who could adapt more quickly will overcome the pandemic.

According to Wiku, adaptation does not only concern individual adaptation through the implementation of health protocols dubbed, but also adaptation in running economic activities.

Previously, Teten announced some 10.25 million MSMEs have begun to migrate to digital platforms, which had also improved. In addition to the market for goods from large industries, digital platforms nowadays have been connected to market products from small farmers and fishermen to national and even global markets.
